The Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association is proud to present the 17th Annual LightHouse Awards sponsored by SunTrust Mortgage. The coveted LightHouse Award is an honor given to area home building professionals for their demonstration of excellence and quality of craftsmanship in the construction of homes throughout Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton Counties. Entry is open to all builder and remodeler members of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association for homes completed after July 31, 2014. All entries must be submitted and payment must be received by the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association by close of business on August 19, 2016.
The LightHouse Awards are open to all builder and remodeler members of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association for any custom home, semi-custom home and remodeling project built after July 31, 2014 within the geographical areas of Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton Counties. Entry homes located on Daufuskie Island, or which require boat transportation, are subject to a transportation fee equivalent of expense. Owner-occupied homes must agree to allow access to home for purpose of judging. Previous LightHouse Award winning entries are not eligible.
Judging of the 2016 LightHouse Award entries will take place September 22-24 for all new home, remodel and special feature entries. A judging schedule will be sent out two weeks prior to the judging event. Entrant is responsible for making sure home is open to judges during scheduled time and that gate passes have been called in for vehicles transporting judges. A panel of building industry professionals will select winning entries. All judges are from outside of the local market.
Judging criteria for all new home and remodel entries will be based on craftsmanship, demonstrated construction excellence and use of materials. Judging criteria for Sales, Marketing & Design entries will be will be based on craftsmanship, innovation, creativity, function, use of materials and use of space.
Judges will make every attempt to give an award in each category. However, awards will not be given in those categories where the quality of entries do not warrant a winner. Decisions of the judges are final. Entrants may review judging scorecards for their entry at the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association once awards have been announced.
2016 LightHouse Awards results will be announced on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the 17th Annual LightHouse Awards Gala being held at the Sonesta Resort, Hilton Head Island. Details for this special event will be sent out in advance and do require reservations. All entering builder companies, as well as trade professionals who contributed to entry homes, are strongly encouraged to attend.
All winners will be featured in LowCountry Home Magazine, the official publication of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association published annually by Media Solutions.
Competition category for all New Home built by builders whose company builds less than 25 homes per year. Entries are based on the final contracted cost of construction, excluding cost of lot/land. The final contracted cost of construction should be the full amount paid/owed by the client, less lot cost (if applicable), at completion of build.
New Home Entry Fee: $500
Competition category for all New Homes built by builders whose company builds more than 25 homes per year (locally or nationally). Entries are based on the published (or contracted) sales price as of July 31, 2015. Sales price must be based on specific model being entered and include value of any associated upgrades featured in the model.

Competition categories for all Full Remodel entries are based on the final contracted cost of remodel. The final contracted cost of remodel should be the full amount paid/owed by the client at completion of remodel.
Full Remodel Entry Fee: $500
Competition categories for all Partial Remodel entries are based on the final contracted cost of partial remodel. The final contracted cost of remodel should be the full amount paid/owed by the client at completion of remodel.
Partial Remodel Entry Fee: $350 (maximum of 3 remodeled rooms/spaces per entry)

If so, enter it into one or all of our newly created “Sales, Marketing & Design” Categories for the chance to win an award for Best Overall. Please note, all submissions will be judged solely on materials submitted. No judges will physically be viewing these entries.
Sales, Marketing & Design Entry Fee: $150 per category entered (i.e. logo, website, community, etc.)
